Set high above the Wye Valley, the Coach House offers the best of both worlds. As the last building on a quiet country lane, little used by motor vehicles, it is both part of the historic village of St. Briavels, and has wonderful views of the adjoining open countryside. If you don't fancy cooking for yourself, the George pub is about 300 yards away, just next to the castle. The property has a lot of history attached to it. Humphreys Lodge has developed over the centuries from a humble cottage to a small country house. It is believed to have once been the village work house .The Coach House was built against the wall of an ancient barn which can still be seen. Guests have access to approximately six acres of fields adjoining the property.
The Coach House was totally renovated in 2008 with comfort in mind. It is furnished and decorated in a modern country style with warm terracotta tiles downstairs and restored pine flooring upstairs. High quality, comfortable furnishings include thick eastern rugs and duvets for all seasons. There is a wood burning stove for chilly nights, while under floor heating throughout the house is provided from renewable energy. Most rooms have dual or triple aspect making them light and airy.
